The story of Prince Nafaniel and Princess Kathathalee...

haha.. okay so I guess I should explain the title of this entry.. and I will in just a sec.. Let me start from the beginning though :)

Okay, so on Saturday night Nate shows up at my house at nine. So, we were heading out to Layton to go to one of his friend's house and we hop onto Highway 89 and all of the sudden there was this loud strange noise.. and I looked at Nate and I said, "um, Nate? what is that sound?" He quickly pulled over and we got out. He looked under his car and sure enough His muffler had fallen off. How a muffler falls off I am not quite sure. I guess my question is, does it really fall off.. or is it just kind of still attatched? haha.. okay I am definately not educated on cars. Okay, back to the story. So, Nate just looks at me like okay what should we do. I just laughed because if any of you know me, I am not the most reliable resource in this situation. :) Anyway, one of his friends came and picked us up and took us back to my house to grab my car.

Oh! so I introduced Nate to some good country music. But I guess that is the least important part of this adventure.. but still at least he got to be introduced.. I have a feeling it will grow on him :)

Okay, so we drive back to his car and he was under his car trying to fix it and I was talking to him. He wasn't frustrated, but kind of bummed out that it had happened.. and so I said "Nate, tell me a story." So he just starts laughing and he starts the story about once upon a time there lived a prince Nafaniel and princess Kathathalee.. and they were stranded.. and any way.. we got laughing about that for a while.. and all through the night the story kept being altered and it just made light of a stressful situation..

Okay, so me and Nate couldn't fix the car by ourselves, so we drove to his friend's house where the party was, and grabbed one of his friends along with some duct tape and drove back to his car. Nate and his friend ended up duct tapping his muffler back on.. (I guess duct tape really has an endless number of uses :) ) Oh, I forgot my important role in all of this. See, we forgot to bring a flashlight.. so I got to hold everyone's phones and shine the little bit of light under the car so they could see.. I know right.. talent! just call me Kylee :) haha.. Okay, I forgot to mention too that this was a monumental night for me. Something about me that all of my good friends know is that I struggle with left hand turns. Like I am okay turning left if I only have to cross say one lane of traffic, but when I have to cross multiple lanes I just struggle.. I would much rather make a right then turn left then make a u-turn then make a right so I am now in the right direction :) does that make sense? So, since we are on highway 89.. I had to make a left hand turn on the highway not just once.. but a plethera of times! I know right! I am talented! :)

Okay so after they were done tapping the car Nate tells me to follow behind them in my car. So I said I would. So we get onto the highway and he gets into the fast lane.. and I am just thinking to myself.. "What is he doing in the fast lane?" His friend's house is a right turn off of the slow lane. So I stayed in the other lane and carefully clogged the traffic. haha.. oh gosh.. so then they turn left.. and I had to keep going straight because it was too late for me to turn left.. and I had all these cars honking at me. So any way I call Nate and he picks up and says "Hey ky, I thought you said you were going to follow me" and I start laughing anyway.. they were laughing at me and asking if I knew how to follow people.. I am no good with directions so it was a little bit of a problem I didn't turn left with them. But no worries with alot of explaining from them, I managed to find them. Funny part was is I got behind this really slow car and I start to blinker over.. I was just like what is this car doing going 25 mph in a 50 mph zone.. yeah it ended up being Nate.. duh ky :) okay so they just park their car in front of this house and they told me they couldn't find the repair shop they were going to take his car too.. So they hopped in and I drove and we hadn't even gone a mile when I said "hey guys, isn't that it right there" they stared at me dumbfounded and said "yeah" so we turned back around got his car and drove it to the repair place. Whoo! We made some progress :)

Hahahaha.. okay so after many laughs and help from good friends we made it back to the party. It ended up being midnight by the time we got to the party.. and that means my curfew. So quick goodbyes and I was off. Nate and his friends sat there on the corner watching as I made my triumphant left turn onto the highway. Man, if they hadn't been watching I would've definately turned right.. how embarrassing.. I can just picture Nate telling all his friends like "look she made the left!" and him just being like she can't turn left..

haha.. and that is the end of this story! :) the end

Spring Breakin.. and the simple joys in my life :)

What a fun week.. I don't even know where to begin.. my thoughts are so scattered! All I can say is that I had the absolute time of my life.
To start off with I went to Hurricane with a bunch of my friends; jared, garrett, garrick, rob, lindsay, amanda, mandy, and me. Lindsay lives in the cutest house, and all the girls stayed there, and all the guys stayed at Rob's sisters house who also lives in hurricane. It was so fun, on the way down I got to stop and see my great grandma Bird in Salina and that was such a treat! I love being around her. We did everything from bonfires, temple, visitors center, talk until two in the morning, hike zion's, eat, visit the boys friends in St. George, drive, sing, church, bbq.. and just laugh until our stomachs hurt! :) It was so fun to catch up with old friends, and realize some things never change.. I love that. and I also love how we can just pick up right where we all left off. This group of people have been there through it all here at Snow college, and I am so grateful for them.
So we did that from Friday night until Tuesday morning, and then.. I got to see SHAY!!!! whoot whoot! It was so much fun hanging out with her. Oh man, she is such a breath of fresh air. And her sense of humor had me rolling on the floor laughing. Ah! It was so much fun to see her cute house and how she decorated. Dixon and Shay are so cute together, and their home is just so welcoming. If you haven't gotten a chance to stop by make sure you do soon. Me and Shay got to go on a picnic, run, laugh, watch movies, and just catch up with each other. Shay is the only person who just knows me inside out. She knows what I am thinking, even if I don't exactly know what I am thinking. She gets excited for me over the simplest things.. and she just makes me want to become a better person whenever I am around her!
I got to stay there until Wednsday afternoon and then on my way home I stopped by my friend Nate's house and had dinner with his cute family! It was almost a dream that night was.. it was just so much fun! His oldest brother is an artist, and so we got to go to one of his art shows, and that was definately something I had never got to do before.. what a blast! and after we went for ice cream.. the yummiest ice cream I have ever had.. I forgot the name of that place though.
On thursday I went and took my mom to lunch. I hope when I grow up I will live close to her.. so that we can do that often! IT was fun to be with my mom's first grade class... and just learn from all of them. After that me and Nate doubled with his cousin and his cousin's feonce. (is that how you spell that?) and we made cookies and burnt most of them.. haha. but it was so much fun.. ducks must like burnt food because they ate all the burnt cookies. :) time sure flies when you are having fun! After that me and my good friend Clarissa went to an opera at capital theatre. I must say this was a first for me! I have never been to an opera. But, it was the funnest time.. and one of the funniest play type thing that I have ever seen! :)
On Friday I got to go to lunch and shopping with my best friend from high school, Jasmine. And I just love her so much. It was so fun to catch up and just spend the day laughing and hearing stories. She is truly someone whom I admire. aah! that was so fun! That night I just got to play with my family! What a joy! I miss them so much when I am at school!
On Saturday I got to go to Landon's basketball game.. holy cow he is good.. and so tall! that night we went to dinner to celebrate my grandma Kathy's final chemo treatment! whoo hoo! She is such a trooper.. and I love her so much. Her sense of humor, faith, and laughter is such a blessing in my life. On saturday night my good friend Heidi Nilsen came over and we went and saw Bride Wars, which was funny, and it was just so fun to be in the presence of such a good friend! Heid just turned in her mission papers.. and is leaving soon! whoo.. I am so excited for her.
On Sunday I got to wake up to banana nut pancakes that my dad made.. oh my can you say heaven on earth?! and then we all went on a nice morning walk. Elder Oaks came and spoke with our stake, and I was just amazed at the spirit and the wonderful testimony that he bore. I am so grateful for that opportunity to be in his presence and to feel of his love for us and this gospel. I know this church is true! It was so fun for dinner my grandma and grandpa silcox came and Nate came and Heidi came! It was so fun to have everyone there.
Wow, what a long entree! But what a fun week, i am missing it already! But getting ready for the final five weeks of school! Five weeks.. can you believe it?! Boy, time sure flies!

And yet.. another popcorn incident.

So, I was telling my friend Nate this story last night, and the first thing he said to me was "oh no ky, not another popcorn story.. you need to stay away from popcorn" haha..

Okay, so this story starts out with me getting this grand idea to pop popcorn on the stove.. because it would be so cool to live like the old fashioned people lived.. I soon came to find out why they invented pop corn poppers, and why you should just go the easy route and use the popcorn popper instead of the stove.. so now that we understand this, I will continue with the story..

Okay, so I put the pop corn seeds in the pan with some butter, and I get my roomates big see through glass plate to put over the top of the pan so that I could see the popcorn seeds through it.. I know smart of me right :) So then, my roomate comes in and says "Ky, please don't use that plate, that one is my favorite, and i don't want it to break." So I smile at her, and I said "Em, don't worry, I have done this before, and I have used your plate before, it won't break.." So, I continue on this grand adventure of making popcorn.. I am so cool right? :) anyway, so my whole pan starts smoking, I guess there wasn't enough butter in the bottom or something.. so I start shakin the pan, and sure enough the popcorn starts popping! Whoot! genius.. and I was so excited it actually worked! So then it didn't pop at a steady pace so the popcorn turned into this fantastic black color, and it smelt divine too.. :) so I quickly remove the pan from the stove along with the smoking popcorn.. I grab my hot pad, remove the plate, and put it under water to wash it.. and all of the sudden this plate just cracks! I just stared at it in utter disbelief. I was just thinking to myself.. how did this happen.. anyway I ran and hid the plate under my bed, so that my roomate wouldn't see. I felt like I was five when you would break something or do something and you would do anything so that your mom wouldn't find out.. haha.. anyway, I was in sure high hopes that I would be able to find a new plate. Um, I was wrong.. wasn't able to find one.. so after a restless sleep of glass plates coming to get me in my dreams, I confessed today to my roomate.. and the only thing she said to me was "Kylee, I told you that would happen"

Morale of the story.. listen to your roomates.

2nd Morale of the story.. stay away from popcorn

3rd morale of the story.. don't try to be cool and live like you were part of the olden days..

Oh, and quick lesson of the day for you.. if boys want to cook you lunch and they get this grand idea to feed you roman noodles with tuna in it.. kindly come up with an excuse; like I already ate, or I forgot I have a test right now.... I would then leave the premisis as quickly as you can.... just a tip..
